It was winter again.
From the terrace which was
barely a terrace I could hear the river
dutifully soaping her hands.
The sunshower was dripping
incessantly so I got up
all annoyed to turn it off
frowning with extra vigour and subjecting myself
to the opposite of a cosmetic procedure.
I was looking intently at a bouquet of radishes.
From that angle I was certain
they were rubies placed there
by the government to distract me
from the infinitely more delicious things.
I kept walking
away from the market and back.
My feet were blistered but not how
you blister shishito peppers.
In a worse way. But then equally
a better way.
