                                                                         caitlin my year three sweetheart
sorry I didn’t make the wedding ceremony you laid out
the skipping ropes beautifully now you work supply in a secondary school
                                                                              you’re in the library teaching
a table of soft boys how to treat women who want them tucking the label
into the neck of one of their grey polyester jumpers
eve I did know why you left early
stephanie in your black dress sat waiting in fatcats
jump cut to a second glass of wine the bartender glancing over
taxi driver home improvising poorly a girl like you alone
a place like this etc I didn’t know how to say
leanne I guess you knew why I couldn’t keep my eyes open much
your purple lip gloss your hair heated flat my hands were so cold
I’m still sorry for that I was worse with the men I promise
