Yanita Georgieva
In this version we are married
to other people. You get the classic
American home. Paint it a crisp white.
Get into country music. Consider
voting red – then reconsider. I settle
down. Marry up. A man I despise
buys me watches. I sell them online
for a profit which I use one day to fly
someplace warm and uncharacteristic.
When I arrive, I’m in the mood
for something sweet. You’re out for a drive.
It’s midnight. We reach for the same
donut at the donut shop.
